Position Summary:

The Make Ready Technician is responsible for maintaining the proper flow of all materials to the press as required for the job. In acquiring, preparing and staging various job components from plates, tooling, inks, and stocks, the Make Ready Technician's function is critical to insure the uninterrupted workflow of the production department.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Operates precision equipment to mount flexographic printing plates on cylinders.
  • Examines plates and materials or work to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Use the production schedule to pre-stage press ready jobs with stock, dies, tooling, ink, and other required supplies to maintain continuous operation of press work centers.
  • Maintains all consumable supplies for the presses to eliminate unplanned downtime.
  • Cleans, reassembles, and returns pans, etc. to the presses.
  • Returns and restocks all tooling to the appropriate locations in the production area.
  • Returns stock to designated area in the warehouse.
  • Empties all trash receptacles.
  • Assists with jobs at press as needed.
  • Insures that the Kanban bins are properly maintained and stocked.
  • Takes precautions to protect equipment, property and product against loss.
  • Operates forklift to move materials to and from various locations within the plant.
  • Suggests improvements to production procedures, and acts to improve quality, timeliness or reduce costs.
  • Adheres to all quality control processes and procedures and actively supports the company's internal audit program.
  • If selected as a supervisory QC backup, the individual is responsible for conducting press QC signoffs, verifying critical quality criteria and conformance to requirements.

 

Secondary Functions:

  • Individual must be able to monitor processes, materials and equipment.
  • Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This implies good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Individual must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Perform any reasonable request as directed by management
  • Participation and support of 5S initiatives and activities.

Position Specifications:

  • High school diploma / GED / or equivalent
  • Candidate should possess basic mathematical skills
  • Candidate should possess a strong work ethic, time management and troubleshooting skills, a positive attitude, and be detail oriented
  • Candidate should be familiar with word processing and other basic computer skills.
  • English language required

Requires face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams, opportunity to make decisions without supervision, mistakes are not easily correctable and have serious consequences that impact the results of co-workers, customers or the company. Requires being exact or highly accurate, meeting strict deadlines, and working with others in a group or team. Regularly required to stand; walk; talk; sit; listen; lift up to 50 pounds and have vision capabilities that enable reading and viewing a computer screen. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls. Requires operation of a forklift to move materials throughout the plant. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people, includes exposure to strobe lights, sounds and noise levels that are distracting. Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
